General Prerequisites for Student Teaching (Clinical
Practice/Internship) are as follows:
1. Must submit an application online
2. Must be fully admitted to the teacher education program
of the College of Education.
3. Must have achieved a 2.2 GPA on cumulative hours pursued
and a 2.5 GPA on hours earned.
4. Must be recommended for Student Teaching (Clinical
Practice) by faculty advisor and/or Clinical School Faculty
and approved by the Field and Clinical Experiences
Committee and the Director of Field and Clinical
Experiences.
5. All required professional education courses must be
completed prior to Student Teaching (Clinical Practice).
6. Must have earned at least a "C" in all professional
education or specialized academic education courses (both
major and minor).
7. Must have completed required psychology courses.
8. Must have completed all course work in major area.
9. If a student has a felony conviction record, he/she must
first be approved for Student Teaching (Clinical Practice)
by the Field and Clinical Experiences Committee.
10. Must have initiated a Professional Portfolio on
PASS-PORT.
11. Must present evidence of having taken and passed all
required parts of the PRAXIS exams required for area(s) of
certification. Satisfactory scores on all parts of the exam
are required for program completion. (This includes the
Principles of Learning and Teaching [PLT] for all majors
and the Specialty test as required by various major
fields).
